DATA SCIENCE: the impact of statistics on scientific methods applied to innovation

The performance of computers and computer networks has never progressed as rapidly as it has over the last decade. The new possibilities for collecting, transferring and processing data in a distributed computing environment open the way to a multitude of new applications and innovations. This presentation will address the importance of the statistical, mathematical and cryptographic knowledge needed to exploit these opportunities, and of the scientific method for proceeding in this field.
